As an athlete and licensed clinical sports message therapist, Johnny has drawn together an enormous amount
of experience and training to become the educator he is today. His mission to teach and train is based on
the passion he feels for helping anyone, regardless of athletic experience, to enhance their performance,
prevent injuries, relax and rejuvenate more easily so they can train and compete in a way that extends their
career and health as long as possible.
Johnny received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University in 1988 before receiving his certification in Clinical/Sports Massage Therapy from the Atlanta School of Massage in 1995. He has played soccer professionally and currently competes as an amateur triathlete.
Johnny has provided massage therapy for both the South Carolina Stingrays Hockey Team and the Charleston Battery Soccer Team. . He has served as a massage therapist for the US National Soccer Teams since 2002. He has been a staff massage therapist at the Medical University of South Carolina and Charleston Health Partners, and an instructor at Trident Technical College where he was responsible for developing coursework and lectures on various topics of massage therapy. Johnny was in charge of the flexibility training curriculum which focused solely on Active Isolated Stretching.
Johnny got the chance to serve elite athletes from the United States during the US Track and Field trials in 1996 and elite athletes from all over the world during the Centennial Olympic games in Atlanta, Georgia as a massage therapist in the Olympic village.
Currently he owns and operates Charleston Massage and Flexibility Center, LLC, a successful practice with nine other therapists serving various types of clientele with a focus on athletes of various levels of experience. Charleston Massage and Flexibility Center is the exclusive provider of massage therapy for the Woodlands Resort and Inn, which is one of only three properties in the country to earn the Mobil Five-Star status and AAA’s Five Diamond rating.
